Where to print a wedding newspaper
A high-street print shop will not do it, because real newsprint needs a newspaper press. Use a specialist that takes short runs online. I use Newspaper Club in Glasgow for every paper I make. You upload a PDF, choose the size and quantity, and the papers arrive by courier. There is no minimum order, so you can print a single test copy.
Which size?
- Tabloid, 289mm by 380mm. The size of a compact daily paper, and the right choice for most weddings. It looks like a real newspaper on a chair or a table and has room for big photographs.
- Mini, 170mm by 250mm. A little smaller than A4, stapled and trimmed. Better suited to a programme or a welcome-bag booklet than a front-page splash.
- Broadsheet. Larger again and impressive, but awkward to read at a table full of glasses.
How many pages?
Tabloid page counts go up in fours: 4, 8, 12, 16. Eight is enough for most weddings. Twelve gives you a centre spread for photographs.
Which paper?
Standard 55gsm newsprint is what daily papers use, and it is the one that feels right. Heavier, brighter stocks make photographs look sharper but feel more like a brochure. Salmon-pink newsprint, the colour of the financial pages, suits a black-and-white design.
What it costs
These are Newspaper Club's prices for a full-colour tabloid on 55gsm newsprint, checked on 12 October 2026. Delivery to one UK address is included.
| Copies | 20 | 30 | 50 | 70 | 100 | 150 | 200 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 8 pages | £60 | £76 | £109 | £141 | £190 | £272 | £342 |
| 12 pages | £76 | £101 | £150 | £199 | £272 | £376 | £469 |
| 16 pages | £92 | £125 | £190 | £256 | £342 | £469 | £584 |
The first copies are expensive and the rest are cheap, so order more than you think you need. Running out on the day costs far more than ten spares.
Setting up the file
- Page size: 289mm by 380mm for a tabloid, one page of the document for each page of the paper.
- Margins: keep everything 15mm from the top, bottom and outside edge. Tabloid presses do not print to the edge.
- Pictures: 150 to 300 dots per inch at the size they are printed. Use original files.
- Colour: printers ask for CMYK. Canva's PDF Print download has a CMYK option on paid plans. If you can only export RGB, order a test copy and check the colours.
- Photographs print darker on newsprint than on screen. Brighten them a little first.
- Export a single PDF with the pages in order.
My template is already set to tabloid size with the right margins.
How long it takes
Allow about a week from upload to delivery in the UK. Couriers do not guarantee dates, so have the papers arrive two weeks before the wedding.
The order to do it in
- Proofread on paper.
- Order one test copy, which costs about £30.
- Check names, photographs and how the centre pages line up.
- Correct the file and order the full run.
- When the box arrives, count the copies and keep them flat and dry until the day.
How papers arrive
Tabloids come flat in a box, folded once along the spine like a shop-bought paper. Fold them in half again by hand if you want them to sit on chairs.

Would you prefer someone else wrote it?
I interview you both, write and design the whole paper and have it printed and delivered. See how it works and the prices. If you are making your own, the template pack gives you eight laid-out pages to start from.
